Appetizers are popular all over the world. In fact, in some countries appetizers can make up a style of eating. What this means, of course is that we can take appetizer recipes from all over the world, and enjoy them all. You can even combine cuisines and make fusion appetizers. Chinese appetizers are known as dim sum. This name covers a wide range of small dishes. In some restaurants, you can order dim sum and choose the ones you want from a cart that is pushed about the restaurant by the wait staff. You can learn to make dim sum yourself or hire a caterer if you want it at a party. Sushi is a Japanese version that can be served as appetizers. Each piece can be eaten in one or two bites. One healthy option is homemade salsa. Create a chunky concoction with peaches, mangoes, peppers, onions, and tomatoes. It is very colorful and you can serve it in a bowl for a snack with chips or toasted tortillas. If you need an appetizer, fill your platter with a layer of chips and add a spoonful of salsa on each one. This is an easy appetizer that everyone will love.
If you have some experience in the kitchen, try making some California rolls. Crab is one luxury most people can’t turn down. Families who have mentally ill relatives whose problems are compounded by substance abuse face problems of enormous proportions. Mental health services are not well prepared to deal with patients having both afflictions.
Often only one of the two problems is identified. If both are recognized, the individual may be bounced back and forth between services for mental illness and those for substance abuse, or they may be refused treatment by each of them.
While the picture regarding dual diagnosis has not been very positive at this point, there are now signs that the problem is being recognized and there is an increasing number of programs trying to address the treatment needs of people with both problems.
Research studies are beginning to help us understand the scope of the problem. It is now generally agreed that as much as 50 percent of the mentally ill population also has a substance abuse problem. Did you know you can increase brain power just by walking alone? Research shows that people who walk are doing a huge service for their brains. As a person walks the blood circulates faster. At the same time more glucose and oxygen are sent to the brain. This is possible because walking is a very low impact type of exercise.
Exercising using fast paced movements means that your body will absorb the increased glucose and oxygen and it will never actually reach the brain. However, by walking and allowing the body to send that oxygen and glucose to your brain, your stress levels will decrease. People who enjoy walking regularly experience increased concentration and are also more receptive to learning new things.
However, you suffer from aching joints or other maladies, you might be concerned that regular walking will exacerbate the conditions. But the truth is that walking releases endorphins that your body is already producing. This increased endorphin production will increase your overall energy levels. You should attempt to say that new word three times each day. If you make the effort to say the word three time every day, your memory will improve. There are other ways to improve memory. You will recall the word and its meaning for a long period of time. You will want to do more than just learn it and forget it. You can use any word; they don’t need to be long or those that you could not use in your everyday conversations. You can use a dictionary if you don’t have this type of calendar.
In fact there are some specific types of words that you can choose to learn about. Some of them can be specific to a career or other type of environment.
