Stomach weight loss is a challenge for most people because your stomach is designed to store fat well. It is one area, too, that is not very receptive to toning. You could have fat arms and legs, but if you just start toning them, they will firm right up. Not so with the stomach. You must do cardio and lots of it. Toning alone will, indeed, give you great abs but no one will be able to see them without cardio because the fat will remain and hide your muscles.
The first place to begin and the most constant thing to maintain is your cardio exercise. Without cardio, your stomach will remain completely unchanged. Running, dancing, and biking are great ways to do this. Remember that it is the intensity of the cardio work out, not the length. Make sure you sweat and get your heart pumping. Let yourself be out of breath.
Simple lifestyle changes can really add up. If you take the elevator all the time, take the stairs. If you drive to the store down the block, just walk there. Walk your dog more frequently. Use an exercise bike while you read a book or watch television. Stand instead of sit whenever you possibly can. Even vacuuming or washing the dishes burns more calories than just sitting around. I’m going to be talking about the three most common mistakes that people make when they’re trying to get rid of belly fat. I’m also going to be discussing why these mistakes are ineffective, and then give you a link to a resource that can help you to effectively lose weight.
The first mistake that people make is trying to do a crash diet. This is a diet were you drastically reduce the amount of food you eat, and also often do various steps to detox the body. Sometimes a diet like this can cause serious health problems as the body is not getting the nutrients it needs to be able to survive. Often the body will burn muscles before attacking the fat, as it considers itself to be starving. Once a person finishes one of these crash diets, they very commonly put all the weight back on again in short order as the body now tries to recover from the damage caused by the diet. In fact it is not unheard of for a person to gain more weight than they had in the first place! Read more...

Even though our bodily processes need oxygen, the usage of oxygen in our bodies causes oxidative harm. Free radicals are produced when our bodies employ oxygen. A free radical is a molecule that is lacking one or more electrons. This makes the molecule extremely volatile and it can cause many problems in our bodies. Antioxidants are nutrients that are found in food that are recognized to slow or even thwart the effects of oxidative impairment.
An antioxidant will come in and connect to a free radical by donating the missing electron. Most of the wholesome foods found in nature are loaded in antioxidants and including these foods in your diet can enhance your immune system and help to avoid disease such as heart disease and cancer and other problems normally associated with aging.
Some of the uppermost antioxidant foods are the berries. Blueberries, cranberries, blackberries and even grapes and cherries are all excessive in antioxidants. The ORAC or Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity is how antioxidant activity in food is calculated. All berries have a high ORAC level but the food with the highest ORAC level is in point of fact the acai berry. There are a few things with a higher ORAC level including ground cinnamon and cloves but as far as genuine food the acai berry surpasses all. Read more...

Appetizers are popular all over the world. In fact, in some countries appetizers can make up a style of eating. What this means, of course is that we can take appetizer recipes from all over the world, and enjoy them all. You can even combine cuisines and make fusion appetizers. It is easy to use your imagination when you make appetizers.
Chinese appetizers are known as dim sum. This name covers a wide range of small dishes. In some restaurants, you can order dim sum and choose the ones you want from a cart that is pushed about the restaurant by the wait staff. You can learn to make dim sum yourself or hire a caterer if you want it at a party. Sushi is a Japanese version that can be served as appetizers. Each piece can be eaten in one or two bites. Indian satay and other foods also make great appetizers. Indian food can be made with seafood, poultry, or spicy vegetables.
Antipasto is the name for Italian appetizers. Antipasto means “before the meal.” These appetizers may contain sun-dried tomatoes, dried meats, cheeses, or salads. Other good Italian options are fresh bread slices drizzled with olive oil or dishes of olives served with your meal. Read more...

The rapid increase in obesity across the country has resulted in a number of serious health problems. Many of these health problems can deteriorate a person’s quality of life and even shorten a person’s life. One such health condition that is made worse when obese is asthma. Studies are now showing that there is a link between asthma and morbid obesity. For people who are suffering from severe obesity, lap band surgery has been shown to be an effective method of weight loss that reduces instances of severe asthma attacks.
Obesity has been proven to be a risk factor for such diseases as heart disease, some types of cancer, and diabetes. Now, research studies are revealing that obesity is a risk factor for asthma. For instance, studies now show the risk for developing asthma increases when there is a large increase in weight. When a person is seriously overweight, their breathing becomes shallow because their lungs do not expand as much as it would if one were a normal healthy weight. As well, in obese individuals, there is a chronic inflammation of the lungs which reduces the airway passage. The inflammation takes place in the fatty tissue. A narrower airway passage also means the airways will remain blocked when breathing normally which reduces oxygen exchange. The airways will contract more causing more asthma symptoms. Narrow airways in obese asthmatics are more likely to stay closed during normal breathing which results in reduced oxygen exchange which puts one in a higher risk category for pulmonary hypertension. As well, obese people are more prone to sleep apnea and gastroesophageal reflux disease which can make asthma worse. Read more...
