Several Causes Of High Blood Pressure

Author: Steven K. Conlan  //  Category: Blood Pressure

Increase in blood pressure levels happen when the heart pumps blood into the body at aberrant rates causing strain on the artery walls. If the blood pressure level surpasses the 140 / 90 mg mark, it is clinically called hypertension. There are several medical and non medical factors which can induce this condition.

Among the medical factors, many kidney diseases, for example glomerulonephritis, renal artery stenosis, chronic pyelonephritis, systemic sclerosis and diabetic nephropathy result in elevated blood pressure. Many endocrine diseases, including conn’s syndrome, phaeochromocytoma, cushing’s syndrome and acromegaly might also cause raised blood pressure. In addition, certain cardiovascular diseases,eg coarctation of the aorta result in hypertension.

There are certain medicines as well that can cause the difficulty of high blood pressure. Mineralocorticoids, sympathomimetic agents, glucocorticoids, tyramine and monoamine oxidase inhibitors may be in charge of elevated blood pressure levels.

Inadequate diet is one of the factors that make a contribution to hypertension. Diets which include a high level of sodium and potassium ration may very well be responsible for upping blood pressure. Over the top intake of carbs and fat can also lead to the problem. If you are consuming exaggerated levels of metal like cadmium and lead, you could be further prone to the condition.

Author: Christian Goodman  //  Category: Blood Pressure

I take my health very seriously and am always interested in knowing what I can do to improve and maintain my health, most preferably, naturally.

As long as my health is concerned I’m always try to know the things that I have control over my heath and the things that I do not have control like genes, pollution etc.

On the basis of research I collected a lot of details on cytomegalovirus. And also its connection to hypertension. Mostly I prefer researching health topics that brings value to me and my clients.

Greek names viruses are interconnected as this virus also gets it’s name from Greek cyto (cell) plus megalo (large). This virus comes from the bigger herpes family. Mononucleosis is also part of the same virus family.

Developing countries is mostly affected by this virus, even though it is found in almost all countries. CMV virus affects 60 to 99 percentage of the population. Urine, saliva and semen are the substances through which this virus is passed.

The first thing a virus which I have not heard of affects 60 percentage of the population. Secondly there is 39 percent gap in infection rate reports to be inconsistent. This two reasons bother me a lot.

A Growing Concern: Childhood Hypertension

Author: Sean Davids  //  Category: Blood Pressure

High blood pressure, or hypertension, at one time was believed to be strictly associated with adults, with the possibility of contracting it growing larger with age. These days, though, there is more focus on hypertension problems faced by children. A few studies show that more than 6 percent of teens and 1 percent of kids under twelve have this dilemma. If a child’s blood pressure is higher than 95% of the children from the same race, gender and age group, he or she fits into the category of juvenile hypertension. It is crucial to the nation’s health that we learn why some kids suffer from high blood pressure.

Everyone recognizes that there are more and more obese people in the U.S. each year. The main fact is that this problem is not only for adults and it affects all age groups, children included. One-third of the child population of this nation belong in the obese category, which is a highly disturbing statistic. This is the main cause for hypertension in children.

Is My Weight Gain Due To My High Blood Pressure Medicine?

Author: Christian Goodman  //  Category: Blood Pressure

But many of my clients bother about this weight round the year. Even though this time of the year it is definitely very hard to control the temptation for food. That is because of their high blood pressure medication.

All high blood pressure medications are prescription medicines and should be respected as the potentially dangerous drugs that they are.

The following are the side effects caused by the high blood pressure medications. They are marked, weight gain, fluid retention, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, (due to vomiting and diarrhea most likely), skin rashes, extreme tiredness, weakness, leg cramps, constipation, bleeding gums, frequent urination (especially at night), low potassium, dry mouth, vertigo (dizziness), headache, excessive hair growth, insomnia, nightmares, cold hands and feed and sensitivity to sunlight.

Because of fluid retention, lethargy, lack of sleep (we compensate by gaining lost energy from food) and depression, it’s no wonder that people reduce or stop exercising and quite frequently turn to food for comfort. What comes next? We gain weight of course.

While some only gain a few pounds, many patients have reported gaining in excess of a hundred pounds over the course of a year! This would, in turn put that person in the obesity category, if he or she weren’t already there, which in turn, would lead to a new risk factor for high blood pressure.

Finding the Right Blood Pressure Home Monitor

Author: dennis  //  Category: Blood Pressure

If you are checking your blood pressure from home you have the choice of choosing your own monitor. You can use either an aneroid monitor or a digital one. There are advantages and disadvantages to both.

An aneroid monitor has a dial gauge and your blood pressure is read by a pointer. You inflate the cuff by hand using a rubber bulb. With a digital monitor you can choose a manual cuff or an automatic one. You can read your blood pressure reading on a screen digitally as well. You want to choose the one you are more comfortable using.

An aneroid monitor is very portable. The cuff that comes with this monitor also has a stethoscope built into it. The aneroid blood pressure monitors range cheaper in price compared to the digital ones. A down side to this monitor is that it may be too hard for some people to hear as well as too hard to squeeze the bulb.

Digital monitors are the more popular blood pressure monitoring devices because they are automatic. Unlike the pointer on an aneroid device, the digital device shows your numbers on a screen. This makes it a lot easier to read. You can even purchase a digital monitor that comes with a paper print out feature. This would make it easier to keep a record of your blood pressure readings.
